Number Blocks: 'Ōlelo Hawai'i
Talk Story - My Great Grandparents moved to Hawai’i before my grandfather was born. Brought in to work on the plantations. Grandpa George, Keoki’s life began on the old Dole Plantation in Wahiawa on the island of O’ahu. Our line from him is not Hawaiian but our family from my Great Grandparents extending to include Hawaiians, Kānaka Maoli. So many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews are descendants of the Aboriginal Polynesians that first found the Hawaiian Islands, Ka Pae’aina o Hawai’i Koa. And so with Filipino culture the next largest influence on my life was from my family who are Hawaiian. Their love of their land and the fight to protect and gain back what was illegally taken from them is our family’s love and fight also.
We created this line to help pass on culture to their keiki, especially those families separated from the islands, and to honor all Hawaiian families, their culture and their land.
Our ‘Ōlelo Hawai’i Number Blocks come with 10 blocks counting from 1-10. Each block is engraved on four side with one Roman numerals, Hawaiian translation, English translation and illustrated Honu by Marlo Kaleookalani Lualemana of Earthbound Tattoo.
We treat every set, every block as if our own kids will be playing with them. So we round each corner and edge. Finally sealing each block with a non-toxic, zero VOC, hypoallergenic food-grade finish. Being a wood product each block will have its own unique grain patterns, tone and characteristics.
It is our hope these block sets will help carry on and further the Hawaiian culture through our children.
Each set is individually laser etched, rounded and hand finished in house ❤️ no outside manufacturing
All toys are made upon order and due to the current pandemic delaying shipping please allow for 2-3 weeks for delivery. Thank you for your patience.
